New standards expand WiMAX opportunities
Aptilo Networks now offers support for Prepaid and Hotlining according to WiMAX Forum standards. The Aptilo WiMAX AAA+ Core is an integral part of the company's WiMAX CSN System for fast-track deployments as well as the Aptilo WiMAX AAA+ Server. The new functionality is based on WiMAX Forum NWG specifications release 1, version 1.3.0, and is part of the new Aptilo system release 9.0.
Prepaid and Hotlining support allows WiMAX operators to move beyond traditional post-paid models. This is particularly of interest in developing markets and for green-field operators. Aptilo's Prepaid support allows operators to activate various charging models, including volume-based charging, duration-based charging and subscription-based charging for prepaid user accounts.
The Hotlining additions provide support for redirecting users to a Hotlining portal, for example to activate new users and devices through a self-signup process or to recharge an existing prepaid account when funds are depleted. And Aptilo's support for Provisioning enables flexible and scalable self-signup distribution models for accelerated subscriber growth with a "zero touch" device configuration when integrated with a third party over-the-air vendor.
